  • Dr. K. MEENA is the Former and First Woman Vice-Chancellor, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli.
  • First Rank holder (Gold Medalist) in M.Sc., Physics and M.Phil., Physics, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli.
  • A Ph.D., (Full-Time) - 1996 and M.E. (Full-Time) – 1991 Degree holder in Computer Science and Engineering from School of Computer Science & Engineering, Anna University, Chennai.
  • One of the earlier Ph.Ds in Computer Science and Engineering.
  • Her Areas of Specialization includes Data Communication Networks, Image Processing, Artificial Neural Networks, Pattern Recognition, Computer Vision, Bioinformatics, Information Communication Technology, Data Mining, etc.,
  • She has a rich experience in teaching and research and produced many Ph.Ds and M.Phils.
She is the
  • Vice President, Menstrual Hygiene Management Consortium (MHMC), Tiruchirappalli.
  • President, ENABLE, Tiruchirappalli (2016 onwards).
  • Contributing commendably to the Development of Rural Women through several extension and outreach activities.
  • Propagation of Sanitation, Health and Hygiene messages across women in rural and urban areas by preparing many brochures and pamphlets.
  • As Vice-Chancellor of Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli.
  • She has introduced many new and valuable job-oriented programmes
  • Motivated the Faculty and students to tap funds from Central and State Government projects/Schemes and also from various funding agencies UGC,DST,DBT etc.,
  • She was instrumental in establishing Centres / Cells / Schemes/ Facilities to enhance the quality of education. To list a few :
  • To fulfil the Vision of the Government of Tamil Nadu, a separate Forum "Women Involved in Sanitation and Hygiene (WISH)" was formed to inculcate the values of women health, menstrual hygienic management and sanitation among the rural and urban adolescent girls and women. It "reaches the unreached" through its programmes.
  • "Centre for Knowledge Repository" established at University Informatics Centre to enhance the Digital Learning through e-resources to help the faculty in implementing innovative approaches in teaching to organize and share digital contents efficiently and to disseminate knowledge to target audience.
  • "Centre for Differently Abled" was created to empower the differently abled in education, employment and entrepreneurship development. "Empowerment Centre for differently abled persons" helped them to develop Braille-based text to speech software for helping the visually impaired and hearing impaired.
  • "Digital Talking Library" dedicated to differently abled persons and this would help them to access to Digital Talking Books and Layers that enable users to choose a book and have it in hand within minutes.
  • "Incubation and Technology Transfer Centre" established and aimed to develop product on Soft Skill Training for students.
  • "Research Consortium of Computer Science" caters to each potential researcher by offering an environment for support through expertise with all required software, hardware, stimulators, statistical packages and other research oriented tools under one roof. NPTEL Channel created to enhance the quality of education in the Country by developing curriculum based video and web courses.
  • Due to her earnest efforts Bharathidasan University got Highest "A" Grade in re-accreditation Process by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore. UGC-Academic Staff College of the University was also assessed and accredited by NAAC.

Dr.Charmila Ayyavoo, M.D Adit Nursing Home - (Vice-President Advisory committee, MHMC)

Dr.A.CHARMILA MD., DGO., DFP., FICOG.,

She is the director of Aditi Hospital and Parvathy Ayyavoo Fertility Center, Trichy. She has passed her MBBS from Coimbatore Medical College and MD from Grant Medical College, Mumbai. She has been awarded the "ShrieMohanlal Desai prize" for standing first in the DFP exams which is for family planning.

She is the director of Aditi Hospital & Parvathy Ayyavoo Fertility Centre from the year 2005. She is a consultant for Southern Railway hospitals, Golden Rock, Trichy. She has been a consultant for Seahorse Hospital, Maruti Hospital and Lachmandas Hospital, Trichy.

She is the Chairperson of the Clinical Research Committee of the Federation of Obstetric and Gynecological Societies of India (FOGSI) for 2016-2018. She has been the secretary of Trichy Obstetrics & Gynecology society in the years 2012-2013. She is a member of the youth cell of FOGSI.

She has been awarded the Mr.N.A.Pandit & Mrs.Shailaja N.Pandit Women's Empowerment award by FOGSI for the year 2014-2015. This has been awarded for her programs called "Youth mela". These are awareness programs for college students.

During her tenure as secretary of Trichy OG Society, she has been awarded the maximum number of prizes in India by FOGSI. They are the "President's rotating trophy" for the year 2013; Dr.Duru Shah youth trophy for the years 2012 & 2013 (twice); Dr.Sadhana Desai population stabilization prize for the year 2012; Drs.Chitradhara&Gangadharan prevention and research in oncology award for the year 2013.

She has been awarded the "Helping mothers survive (HMS)"champion prize by FOGSI in the year 2013 for conducting programs to reduce maternal mortality.

Her passion is women's health. She is involved in research regarding adolescent and women's health. She is actively involved in menstrual hygiene programs over the past few years and has been in the executive committee of MHMC.

She is a faculty for both international and national conferences in Obstetrics, Gynecology, Laparoscopy and Fertility.
